Job summary

SMBC Group in New York seeks an Associate or Vice President for Structured Finance - Collateral (Leveraged Loan) Underwriting. The role focuses on lender finance collateral, mainly leveraged middle market loans, reviewed and graded before inclusion in borrowing bases.

Your responsibilities include preparing requests, analyzing performance changes, coordinating with Origination and Execution, and maintaining client portfolios with ongoing collateral reporting and credit risk assessment.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, leveraged finance, structured finance, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience in financial statement and credit analysis.
• Understanding of leveraged finance, middle market lending, or structured credit products.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with asset manager clients to support collateral management.
• Partner with Origination and Execution teams to address syndication, diligence, and investor inquiries.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to credit decisioning through valuation analysis and risk assessment.
• Monitor collateral portfolios, identify credit deterioration and changes in portfolio composition.
• Prepare credit approval materials for new transactions, upsizes, and reevaluations.
• Participate in annual reviews and periodic portfolio assessments.
