Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group in Worcester, MA is seeking a Vice President and Lead Actuary to head the actuarial practice for Core Commercial Lines. This senior role leads actuarial, data science, and integration teams to advance pricing, portfolio management, and rate development across multiple jurisdictions and locations.

You will partner with senior management to shape business strategy, oversee governance and performance metrics, and guide decision-making for profitable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical field.
• 10+ years of technical experience, including at least 10 years in management.
• FCAS designation required.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to business partners.
• Experience in a matrixed organization and across business functions.
• Knowledge of modeling techniques used in actuarial practice.
• Experience navigating state regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead actuarial, data science, and integration teams for Core Commercial Lines.
• Shape business strategy and drive pricing sophistication and portfolio management.
• Deliver guidance on filing adequate manual rates and pricing strategies.
• Drive actuarial and data science process improvements and governance.
• Present findings to senior leadership and influence decisions.
• Collaborate with internal/external clients to align priorities and goals.
• Support talent development and performance management within the team.
• Oversee budget and performance metrics for the function.
