Job summary

SMBC is seeking a highly skilled Vice President Java Developer to join the Front Office Fixed Income Technology team in New York. You will design, develop, and support high-performance trading, pricing, risk, and trade lifecycle applications as part of a global technology group.

You will partner with traders and quants to deliver scalable solutions, modernize the tech stack, and drive best practices, including AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong Spring Boot, REST, microservices and messaging experience.
• Front Office investment banking knowledge, fixed income preferred.
• Experience with TDD, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure coding.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, global team and mentor juniors.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop front-office applications with Java 17+.
• Build low-latency, scalable services for trading, pricing, risk and lifecycle.
• Create microservices and event-driven architectures with APIs.
• Collaborate with traders, quants, risk managers and business stakeholders.
• Lead technical design discussions and mentor developers.
