Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an accomplished Life Inforce actuary to lead portfolio performance, risk, and long-term direction. You will translate complex mortality/persistency analytics into strategic recommendations for senior leadership and drive profitability, capital efficiency, and reinsurance strategy.

You will partner with Product, Finance, Risk, and other functions, shaping governance, pricing actions, and assumptions while building talent and delivering decision-ready materials to executives.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive actuarial experience in the life insurance industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related quantitative field.
  • FSA strongly preferred; ASA with substantial leadership experience may be considered.
  • Deep understanding of Life insurance products and Inforce dynamics including mortality and persistency.
  • Strong actuarial foundation with ability to connect experience analysis to business outcomes.
  • Executive-level communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Strategic, forward-looking thinker with an owner's mindset.
  • Trusted partner to senior leadership on Life insurance economics and risk.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance, risk profile, and long-term direction of the Life Insurance Inforce portfolio
  • Translate complex Inforce analytics, including mortality, persistency, and profitability trends, into actionable insights, management strategies, and executive-level recommendations
  • Own the financial and risk narrative for Life Insurance Inforce across UL, IUL, VUL, Term, COLI/BOLI, and related blocks
  • Drive decisions related to profitability sustainability, efficient capital usage, reinsurance strategy, and Inforce actions
  • Partner with Product, Finance, Risk, Legal, Reinsurance, Investments, Capital Management, and FP&A
  • Influence pricing actions, assumption governance, and portfolio management decisions
  • Lead mortality, lapse, premium persistency, and earnings attribution analysis and forward-looking projections
  • Own fee, spread, and Non-Guaranteed element analysis and forward-looking projections
  • Oversee stress testing, sensitivity testing, and scenario analysis
  • Identify emerging experience trends and translate them into actionable recommendations
  • Participate as a critical member of the Product Management Committee and Assumption Review Committee
  • Lead Life actuarial policy management activities
  • Act as the single point of accountability for Life Inforce performance insight
  • Develop talent and build confidence throughout the enterprise
  • Influence senior leadership through concise storytelling, quantified trade-offs, and decision-ready materials
  • Set strategic priorities and decision frameworks for teams supporting Life Inforce analytics

Job description

  • Oversee the performance, risk profile, and long-term direction of the Life Insurance Inforce portfolio
