Job summary

Citi in Jersey City is seeking an experienced Algorithmic Trading Developer (VP) to design, develop, and optimize our low-latency execution platform within Equities Electronic Trading. You will build high-performance microservices in Java and collaborate with product and quantitative teams.

You will lead design discussions, implement complex trading logic, ensure best execution, and drive CI/CD improvements while maintaining architecture integrity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development for low-latency systems.
• Expert-level knowledge in Core Java and JVM internals.
• Proven experience designing automated trading systems in Equities or similar financial domains.
• Solid understanding of financial market protocols (e.g., FIX) and handling order/market data.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with modern testing frameworks, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD processes.
• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of high-performance, low-latency microservices and applications.
• Implement and optimize trading logic, execution strategies, and performance improvements for best execution.
• Lead technical design discussions and code reviews to uphold quality and architectural integrity.
• Partner with product development, quantitative researchers, and other tech teams to deliver new trading capabilities.
• Drive testing frameworks, deployment processes, and tooling for low-latency environments.
• Resolve complex technical challenges by analyzing business requirements and industry best practices.
• Build and maintain robust monitoring, reconciliation, and recovery capabilities.
