Job summary

Alliance Defending Freedom seeks a seasoned Vice President of Government Affairs to lead our U.S. Government Affairs team, reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel.

You will shape federal and state legislative strategies, supervise senior staff, and build strategic relationships with lawmakers and executive-branch officials. You will oversee advocacy before Congress and state legislatures, manage cross-team coordination, and act as the organization’s spokesperson.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with an active license in at least one US state bar.
• 10+ years of professional experience working in federal or state legislative or executive-branch settings.
• 4+ years of professional experience working in a federal legislative context.
• Experience managing teams of attorneys.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Travel up to 30% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Define and oversee plans and strategies to achieve key legal objectives, directing the application of those plans and strategies to positive legal outcomes.
• Oversee federal and state government relations work before Congress and state legislatures.
• Build alliances and coalitions with like-minded policy groups.
• Represent ADF in media and at public events.
• Act as the primary spokesperson for the Government Affairs team.
• Allocate resources to maximize the achievement of ADF and legal objectives.
