Job summary

WhiteCap Search is seeking an experienced fund accounting professional to join our client’s team. You will oversee valuation and financial control for credit-focused hedge fund strategies, manage valuation processes, and coordinate with external service providers to ensure accurate, timely reporting.

Key duties include owning fund control, leading valuation reviews, developing automated P&L explain and attribution reporting, and supporting new product launches while upholding strong governance

Qualifications

• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in fund control, product control, valuations, fund accounting, or finance within a bank, asset manager, hedge fund, or investment management firm.
• Demonstrable experience reviewing and owning valuation processes independently.
• Strong technical fund accounting and financial control skills, ideally across hedge fund or alternative investment structures.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting, portfolio management, or valuation systems would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage fund control processes for hedge fund strategies, focusing on credit-related investments.
• Lead valuation review processes independently, including assessment of pricing sources, broker marks, model inputs, and valuation movements.
• Develop automated P&L explain and attribution reporting, identifying key drivers such as market movements, new trades, carry, time decay, model changes, and valuation adjustments.
• Challenge and investigate valuation variances, stale pricing, liquidity considerations, and unusual movements across the portfolio.
• Support new product launches, trade workflows, and lifecycle events, partnering with PMs, risk, operations, and external counterparties.
• Balance hands-on daily responsibilities with strategic project work, shaping the control framework within a growing, high-performance credit hedge fund.
• Drive the design and implementation of improved processes, controls, and procedures as the platform scales, enhancing efficiency and governance.
• Partner with investment teams to understand portfolio activity, trade economics, and valuation drivers.
• Work closely with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisers, and other external service providers to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Review fund financial statements, investor reporting inputs, and regulatory or management reporting as required.
• Review NAV production, fund accounting outputs, and month-end close processes.
• Maintain strong control standards across reconciliations, cash, positions, expenses, accruals, and fee calculations.
• Support new product, fund launch, or strategy-related initiatives from a finance and control perspective.
• Contribute to improvements in valuation governance, reporting processes, systems, and operating procedures.
• Act as a point of contact for valuation-related queries and support internal committees or governance forums where required.
