Job summary

Mission Staffing is seeking an experienced finance professional to own fund control and valuations for a fast-growing, credit-focused platform in New York. You will lead valuation reviews, oversee NAV production, and partner with auditors, tax advisers, and investment teams to ensure accurate reporting.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the function from the ground up, drive automated P&L attribution, and implement improved controls as the platform scales.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in fund control, product control, valuations, fund accounting, or finance within banks, asset managers, hedge funds, or investment firms.
• Strong understanding of credit products including corporate credit, loans, bonds, structured credit, private credit, distressed credit, or credit derivatives.
• Experience owning valuation processes and reviewing pricing sources, broker marks, model inputs, and movements.
• Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with fund accounting, portfolio management, or valuation systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage fund control processes for credit-focused hedge fund strategies.
• Lead valuation review processes independently, including pricing sources, broker marks, model inputs, and valuation movements.
• Develop automated P&L explain and attribution reporting, identifying drivers like market moves, new trades, and carry.
• Challenge and investigate valuation variances, stale pricing, and unusual portfolio movements.
• Review NAV production, fund accounting outputs, and month-end close processes.
• Partner with investment teams, fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisers to ensure accurate reporting.
• Drive design and implementation of improved processes and controls as the platform scales.
• Support new product launches, trade workflows, and lifecycle events.

Requirements / Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of credit products, including corporate credit, loans, bonds, structured credit, private credit, distressed credit, or credit derivatives
• Demonstrable experience independently reviewing and owning valuation processes
• Strong technical fund accounting and financial control skills, ideally within hedge fund or alternative investment structures
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting, portfolio management, or valuation systems is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
