Report directly to our founder/CTO, Musawir Shah (ex-Nvidia, Y-Combinator alum)
Opportunity to scale our users from 5M to 50M in the next few years
Lead a team of ~60 talented full stack software engineers
Work with seasoned peers from companies like Nvidia, Amazon, Microsoft, Andreessen Horowitz, SoFi, etc.
About the opportunity:
We are seeking a VP, Engineering to join our executive team! After achieving profitability in early 2024, we aim to scale from 5M to 50M customers and become a $10B business. We prioritize hiring high-caliber talent who will build a small, effective team that remains lean, agile, and capable of big achievements.
At Jerry, we are creating the first AllCar super app to make car ownership affordable and accessible. Since 2019, we've launched various innovative features, including insurance, driving insights, diagnostics, repair marketplace, and GPT-4 chatbot and voicebot. As we approach building the first connected ecosystem for car owners, we need a VP of Engineering to lead our software engineering efforts. Reporting to our co-founder/CTO, you will manage and scale our engineering team, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality, rapid execution. How you will make an impact:
Lead our engineering organization (~50 engineers), supervising managers and tech leads, ensuring high-quality, high-velocity delivery.
Enhance talent density by hiring top engineers and investing in their development. Implement performance evaluation frameworks across teams.
Set ambitious goals for engineering teams and foster continuous learning and growth. Support teams in overcoming obstacles.
Optimize processes to maximize output and anticipate scaling challenges.
Promote a collaborative, ambitious, and results-oriented culture.
Work collaboratively with product, design, data science, marketing, and operations teams.
Ideal profile:
Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
15+ years of engineering experience with increasing responsibilities, including some time as an IC in complex environments
Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams at early-to-mid stage startups, managing at least 50+ engineers
Strong technical mastery with a passion for learning and improvement
A sense of urgency and ability to inspire teams to exceed expectations
Ownership and accountability in delivering results
