Job summary

BNY Mellon seeks a Vice President, Data Management Engineer in New York, NY to lead data architecture, governance, and high-performance data solutions within the Conventional Trust team.

You will drive data modeling, warehousing, and data quality initiatives across large financial datasets, collaborating with data owners, engineers, and business partners to deliver scalable, trusted data assets for analytics and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering or related field; equivalent work experience.
• 6-10 years of software development experience; securities/financial services a plus.
• Strong understanding of Snowflake and big data tech stack.
• Python expert; SQL and data engineering capabilities.
• Proven experience with Oracle RDBMS.
• Proven experience implementing AI/ML data solutions.
• Experience with ETL tools (Airflow), Restful APIs, Power BI, GitLab CI/CD, and Jira.
• Design and develop scalable data processing workflows using PySpark and Python.
• Write complex, optimized SQL queries and perform ETL.
• Troubleshoot Spark jobs and work with large datasets; ensure data quality.

Responsibilities

• Establish partnerships with data owners and reporting teams to document requirements.
• Analyze requirements and develop data models (conceptual, logical, physical).
• Create data dictionaries and metadata documentation across databases.
• Ensure data content/quality; lead data stewardship activities.
• Develop scalable data processing workflows using PySpark and Python.
• Perform ETL and optimize SQL and Spark jobs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions.
• Follow coding standards and documentation.
