Job summary

LPL Financial is seeking a strategic Vice President II, Cybersecurity Engineering - Security Tools to lead the strategy, engineering, and continuous improvement of platforms that protect our infrastructure, advisors, and employees.

This leadership role emphasizes cross-functional influence, risk translation, and delivering measurable security outcomes across on-prem and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, security engineering, or cybersecurity tooling management.
• 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing security engineering, security operations, or cybersecurity tooling teams.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with email gateways, SIEM, EDR, XDR, vulnerability management, or related enterprise security platforms.
• 5+ years of experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives with planning, budgeting, forecasting, execution, and stakeholder management accountability.
• 5+ years of experience automating security, compliance, or operational workflows using PowerShell, Python, Bash, shell scripting, or similar languages.

Responsibilities

• Lead the deployment, integration, optimization, and lifecycle management of cybersecurity tools, including SIEM platforms such as Splunk and Elasticsearch, XDR, EDR, email gateways, and vulnerability management platforms.
• Develop and execute a cybersecurity tooling strategy aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, risk priorities, and the broader information security roadmap.
• Automate threat detection, response, compliance reporting, and operational workflows using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
• Manage and report endpoint security compliance metrics, tooling effectiveness, risks, and security posture to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
• Ensure alignment with cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS.
• Partner with IT Governance, infrastructure, DevOps, and application delivery teams to embed information security requirements into project delivery and system architecture.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives, budget planning, forecasting, and reporting for security tooling investments and operational priorities.
• Mentor and develop security engineering talent while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
• Create and maintain documentation, playbooks, runbooks, and operational guidelines for security tooling and related processes.
