Job summary

Synchrony is seeking a VP, CoreTech Governance Leader to drive safety and soundness across CoreTech. You will prepare for exams, lead exam execution, strengthen risk frameworks, and guide a team of governance resources across the three lines of defense.

You will coordinate exams, manage risk remediation, and push for automation and improved control environments while communicating progress to senior leadership. This is a front-line, hands-on leadership role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8+ years of either Technology, Risk Management, OR in lieu of a degree minimum of 12+ years of Technology and Agile Portfolio Management experience.
• Demonstrated experience of governance and/or risk management.
• Strong people leadership skills.
• Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed environment with proven experience influencing leaders at all levels.
• Strong presentation and communication skills with a demonstrated business presence while interacting with senior business executives.
• Proven experience with partnering, collaborating and influencing across a large multilayered organization at all levels.
• Proven experience handling multiple, and competing priorities across all stakeholder groups and effectively resolving competing priorities and interests with minimal disruption.
• Minimum 7 years of Technology or Risk Management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the risk and governance activities for the CoreTech organization.
• Manage and/or coordinate all exams/tasks to help prioritize for the business using a risk based approach.
• Drive risk management for the CoreTech organization.
• Lead the team and/or personally lead OCC and FRB exams, Internal Audits, 2LOD exams, Pen tests.
• Explain technical challenges and solutions to non-technical leaders and describe risk to prioritize the business.
• Challenge when evaluating true risk to the business.
• Liaise with Information Security on risk management.
• Oversee PCI evidence delivery in CoreTech space.
• Drive proactive action in evaluating control environment and identifying risks.
• Drive automation in assessing the control environment.
• Communicate overall issues remediation work, drive timely remediation across CoreTech.
• Lead continuous improvements in issues management.
• Oversee Audit Readiness program; calendar of surveillance tasks.
• Facilitate creation/renewal of Policies, Standards, and Procedures; review FFIEC guidance.
• Collaborate across technology on issues remediation and Sox compliance.
• Product Owner for CoreTech Governance board; participate in Agile ceremonies and PI Planning.
• Liaise with Tech and Ops Governance and 2nd/3rd lines of defense.
• Communicate with senior leadership and facilitate challenging conversations.
• Be hands-on in exams/audit details and drive timely results.
• Create/update dashboards to communicate status and drive productivity.
• Advocate for good risk practices across the organization.
• Perform other duties and/or special projects.
