Job summary

MidPen Housing Corp. in Foster City, CA is seeking a Vice President, Controller to lead the accounting department, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements while optimizing internal controls and reporting.

The role reports to the CFO, mentors a high-performing team, and partners across departments to deliver timely financial insights, audit readiness, and strategic fiscal guidance for the organization's affordable housing portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting from an accredited university with 10 years of progressive accounting responsibility.
• Significant accounting leadership experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Officer.
• Experience within affordable housing/real estate is preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs safekeeping, control, and accounting for assets and securities.
• Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems.
• Ensures compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Leads all audit and tax preparation activities and manages relationships with auditors and outsourced vendors.
• Supports CFO in communicating with the Board on audit, tax, and financial results.
• Develops and maintains internal controls and accounting policies.
