Job summary

Job Summary

As a Vice President of Construction with Taylor Morrison you will lead and support the Construction & Warranty Department, providing field leadership for all construction activities. Your role includes hiring, training, managing, and motivating direct reports, ensuring the highest quality of product delivered to customers on time and within budget.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all construction positions are staffed with competent professionals in technical ability, cost control, administration, and customer service.
  • Provide training to the Superintendent group.
  • Manage construction budgets for each home and report all shortages/overages.
  • Collaborate with functional peers to foster teamwork, communication, coordination, and effective problem‑solving with Superintendents, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Ensure Labor Trades follow OSHA rules and provide weekly performance feedback.
  • Recruit and continuously evaluate subcontractors for quality standards and scheduling deadlines.
  • Support land acquisition and development activities as needed.
  • Ensure all construction personnel understand and adhere to the safety program.
  • Ensure all construction personnel are trained on the warranty program.
  • Monitor schedules to guarantee each home is completed on time.
  • Monitor and ensure success of the Quality Control process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Business, or a related field, and/or 8–10 years of experience in a similar management‑level position with a high‑volume homebuilder.
  • Five years of direct experience in progressively responsible positions with a production homebuilder.
  • General Contractor’s license as applicable.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Formal OSHA training is preferred.
  • Strong relationship skills.
  • Strong self‑organization skills.
  • Strong planning and problem‑solving skills.

Essential Functions
  • Report to Division/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to schedule.
  • Oversee direct reports daily and provide guidance as needed.
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from a computer or electronic device.
  • Engage in face‑to‑face conversations with customers, co‑workers, and higher level managers.
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time and move as required.
  • Operate a motor vehicle.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Experience at Taylor Morrison and/or successful completion of the training program may override required education and/or experience.
