Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking a Vice President to join the Capital Management Oversight team within the Treasury Risk Management group in New York. You will oversee capital adequacy, regulatory requirements, and capital actions across Americas entities.

The role requires 5+ years in capital management or risk, strong analytical and communication skills, and a hybrid work model with offices in the New York area. The salary range is $145,000–$185,000 with potential discretionary incentives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in capital management, regulatory capital, stress testing, treasury, or risk management in large U.S. banks or equivalent.
• Understanding of U.S. regulatory capital requirements and CCAR stress testing.
• Familiarity with risk frameworks: RWA, leverage ratio, liquidity risk.

Responsibilities

• Independently oversee capital ratios and adequacy across SMBC entities in the Americas.
• Review and challenge capital ratios, RWA, and internal capital limits.
• Assess compliance with capital regulatory requirements and CCAR methodologies.
• Prepare analyses and reports for senior management and regional boards.
• Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Risk and Business leadership to challenge capital actions.
• Escalate capital management issues promptly and maintain an independent second-line oversight.
