Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel on the Subpoena Escalation Team to lead responses to complex third‑party legal demands. You will collaborate with internal teams and outside counsel to manage civil, regulatory, and criminal matters across lines of business and bank products.

You will ensure compliant, timely responses to subpoenas, court orders, CIDs, search warrants, and other requests, serving as liaison with government agencies and external parties.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage high-volume subpoena matters.
• Experience with civil, regulatory, and criminal matters.
• Proficiency with legal research tools and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze third‑party subpoenas, court orders, and other legal documents to determine the required response.
• Coordinate with internal departments to gather necessary documents and information and ensure timely and accurate compliance with all legal requests.
• Ensure all responses to subpoenas and legal requests comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as bank policies and procedures.
• Prepare witnesses for and defend appearances, including depositions, in civil, criminal, and regulatory matters.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations affecting subpoena compliance and information disclosure.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of all subpoenas and legal requests received and processed.
• Draft and review response letters, affidavits, and other necessary documentation.
• Identify potential risks associated with information disclosure and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and best practices related to subpoena compliance.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external parties (e.g., law enforcement, regulatory agencies) regarding subpoenas and legal requests.
• Collaborate with the bank’s compliance, risk, and data privacy teams to ensure cohesive and compliant responses.
