Clēnera has over 1.5GW of solar and 3.2GWh of storage in operations or construction, and a development pipeline totaling 13.3GW of solar and 32.8GWh of storage across 23 states. Our company culture is at the core of everything we do, so you’ll regularly find Caring, Committed, and Courageous individuals who value respectful, cross-functional collaboration with partners internally and externally. We are experiencing tremendous portfolio growth, which means our headcount continues to grow to meet the demands of the business. Are you ready to change the world with us?

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a member of the executive team, the VP of Asset Management will be responsible for optimizing the value and operational performance of our growing portfolio of solar projects. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of asset management principles, renewable energy markets, and utility-scale solar project operations. The VP will drive strategic initiatives, optimize financial and operational performance, and ensure the successful long-term performance of the assets under management.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Oversee and manage the company’s portfolio of utility-scale solar projects, ensuring optimal financial, operational, and technical performance across its IPP assets.
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction of a rapidly growing PV and storage project portfolio operating in various power markets—both big picture planning as well as tactical execution of department deliverables.
  • Lead efforts to maximize asset value by driving operational efficiencies, cost reduction initiatives, and revenue optimization strategies. Oversee plant performance through optimizing process development, investment, and technical tools/equipment.
  • Execute departmental objectives in alignment with Clenera’s strategic plan. Utilize a collaborative, cross-functional approach to identify/anticipate opportunities, risks, projections and propose potential solutions to influence results in alignment with business needs.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with asset performance, including regulatory, operational, and market risks. Develop and implement strategies to ensure protection of the company’s assets.
  • Oversee sourcing and management of third-party vendors for compliance and operational needs, including O&M providers, telecommunications, regulatory compliance, and land management (vegetation, panel washing, permitting, etc.). Support the development of work processes to ensure O&M best practices across the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to optimize the handoff process for newly operating assets as well as evaluate and recommend improvements for operational performance, long-term asset value, and revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all operating project governing documents, including PPAs, IAs, OMAs, REC sale agreements, financing documents, LLCAs, and MSAs.
  • Manage regulatory compliance across the portfolio; serve as NERC CIP Senior Manager (GO) and Clenera CFIUS Security Officer, where applicable. Ensure all assets comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards. Monitor and manage interactions with regulatory bodies.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for Asset Management to internal/external stakeholders. Provide transparent, regular updates on asset performance, financial health, and risk management. Provide monthly, quarterly and annual financial and performance reports to applicable stakeholders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team that fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence as well as collaboration cross-functionally with other departments. Hire, train, and develop team members.
  • Collaborate with development and project finance teams on portfolio pipeline projects to ensure AM-related modeling assumptions are accurate.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in Asset Management within renewable energy and at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale solar portfolios.
  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
  • Skills/Attributes:
    • Demonstrated ability to lead highly effective teams, both internally and externally.
    • Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization.
    • Strong analytical skills and business/financial acumen.
    • Strong negotiation and problem solving skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
