Job summary

Athene is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to design and lead the new Innovation Hub in Austin. You will define multi-year technical direction, own platform architecture, and ensure scalable delivery across guarantee decisioning, calculation services, and partner integrations.

You will hire, mentor, and grow the engineering team, and drive AI-enabled development while upholding security, data integrity, and production readiness.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing, building and operating enterprise software platforms, with leadership experience.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams or platforms, including talent development.
• Deep hands-on experience with cloud-native, API-first architectures and production code.
• Experience with financial services or regulated systems, with strong controls and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Own technical strategy and platform architecture for Athene’s Innovation Hub in Austin.
• Build and lead the Austin engineering organization and recruit top talent.
• Deliver connected retirement capabilities with API integrations to partners and services.
• Establish operational excellence, security, auditability and reliable production readiness.
• Lead AI-native engineering initiatives and scale best practices across teams.
