Northwestern Mutual seeks a VP-level Actuary to lead Whole Life, Term and Benefits Pricing. You will direct a 4–5 person actuarial team, shape pricing strategy, and coordinate across product, underwriting and regulatory teams. You’ll balance profitability with market competitiveness and mentor talent.

The role emphasizes strategic pricing, regulatory awareness, and scalable processes to deliver value for customers and the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Professional actuarial leadership required; lead pricing teams and manage actuarial analysis across product portfolios.
• Deep knowledge of regulatory practices and product taxation rules in pricing and design.
• Proven ability to build and sustain high-performing actuarial teams and collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional actuarial advice and services to achieve company goals.
• Defines and executes long-term pricing strategy for whole life, term, and benefits pricing.
• Leads pricing analysis across product portfolio and supports growth and risk management.
• Provides strategic actuarial leadership on product design and pricing decisions.
• Anticipates regulatory and market trends and incorporates into pricing decisions.
• Advises senior leadership on profitability and risk with actionable recommendations.
• Drives pricing capability improvements, models, and processes.
• Builds and retains a high-performing actuarial team through coaching and development.
