Job summary

The Iowa Democratic Party is hiring a Deputy Voter Protection Director for our 2026 coordinated campaign in Des Moines, IA. The role focuses on recruiting, training, and managing voter protection volunteers while monitoring election-law changes to address barriers to voting.

The Deputy will work with the Voter Protection Director to recruit, onboard, train, assign, and support volunteers, and to ensure strong data practices and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• JD preferred.
• Campaign experience in voter protection or organizing roles.
• Experience using LBJ, VAN/Votebuilder, and Google Suite.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proven time management and ability to handle multiple projects.
• This full-time position lasts through November 2026 with a laptop, cell phone, and vehicle; long hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with management of volunteer poll observation and hotline programs.
• Maintain data practices and prepare regular reports.
• Assist with planning and execution of poll observer and boiler room operations for early voting and election day.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Voter Protection Director.
