This full-time exempt role will recruit, train, place, and schedule volunteers, coordinating with staff and ensuring compliance with background checks and policies.

The MVP will foster diverse, mission-aligned experiences, manage records, provide reporting, and lead recognition events.

Qualifications

• Clear verbal and written communication required.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to occasionally work weekends and evenings.
• Valid California driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, train, place, and schedule volunteers with robust orientation.
• Meet with staff to adapt volunteer opportunities to organizational needs.
• Communicate policies and standards of volunteer service, emphasizing DEI.
• Respond promptly to inquiries from volunteers and staff.
• Maintain detailed volunteer records and provide quantitative reporting.
• Manage volunteer activity, confirming assignments and scheduling with staff.
• Supervise volunteers, assigning tasks and directing work.
• Ensure background checks comply with California law and Garden policies.
• Evaluate volunteer performance and address any issues with staff.
• Identify and develop volunteer opportunities and write job descriptions.
