Job summary

City of New York’s Prospect Park Volunteer Department oversees 3,000 volunteers and coordinates diverse events in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The role supports volunteer activities, assists with educational programs, and helps with program development and administrative tasks.

This full-time position requires strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills, a NYS driver license, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities.
• Equivalent education and/or experience to above.

Responsibilities

• Support outdoor volunteer events in natural areas and workshops.
• Lead vegetation removals, native plantings, trail maintenance and beautification projects.
• Coordinate volunteers and staff, and supervise activities.
• Perform liaison duties between community groups and park divisions.
• Assist with training of volunteers and staff, acting as a team leader.
• Prepare surveys and reports; maintain databases and inventory records.
