Job summary

The Ability Center in Northwest Ohio is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to lead the Assistance Dogs volunteers, building relationships and ensuring meaningful volunteer experiences. You will recruit, onboard, develop, engage, recognize, and retain volunteers while coordinating with program staff for training and support throughout the volunteer journey.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred in related fields.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention for Assistance Dogs volunteers.
• Serve as primary contact for volunteers, providing ongoing support and guidance.
• Oversee day-to-day volunteer needs in collaboration with leadership.
• Develop opportunities for volunteer education, mentoring, and leadership.
• Plan orientations, trainings, meetings, and appreciation events.
• Track participation, hours, retention, and engagement with relevant teams.
• Collaborate with HR, Communications, and program staff on outreach.
