Position Details

Role Summary

The Volunteer Program & Workforce Development Coordinator plays a lead role in developing and managing volunteer and internship programs, including recruitment, training, retention, and evaluation of volunteers, interns, and other non-employees. The role supports staff development and recognition initiatives and may perform operational functions as needed.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ experience in volunteer programs or personnel management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort with new technologies.
  • Public contact or customer service experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and maintain confidentiality.
Physical & Other Requirements
  • Primarily sedentary work; no special demands.
  • Training duration: Two months.
  • Occasional evening/weekend hours required.
Principal Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement volunteer and internship recruitment and assignment strategies.
  2. Design and facilitate orientation and training programs.
  3. Train staff on volunteer management and develop program goals.
  4. Maintain volunteer records and oversee recognition efforts.
  5. Build relationships with volunteers, interns, and staff.
  6. Support program budgeting and fiscal responsibility.
  7. Assist with front-of-house support during peak visitation times.
  8. Participate in professional development and evaluation activities.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Clearance Requirements

PA Act 153 clearances or proof of application are required upon employment and ongoing.
