Job summary

The Buffalo Zoo seeks a Volunteer Program Coordinator to develop strategies for recruiting and retaining volunteers, including docents, event volunteers, and interns. You will supervise training, onboarding, and placement while coordinating with multiple Zoo teams to fulfill needs and build community partnerships.

Ideal candidates bring strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, plus experience coordinating volunteers in a non-profit environment and familiarity with Volgistics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associates Degree required.
• Two years experience coordinating volunteers in a non-profit setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication; excellent relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, orients, onboards, and coordinates volunteer placement and evaluations.
• Establishes relationships with zoo teams to align volunteer projects.
• Works with the outreach team to recruit docents, event volunteers, youth volunteers and interns.
• Develops training and onboarding processes for volunteers and interns.
