Job summary

Food Bank of Alaska is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to lead volunteer activities, train and supervise volunteers, and support special events. This full‑time, non‑exempt role reports to the Volunteer Manager and starts at $20–$22 per hour depending on experience.

The coordinator will manage volunteer scheduling, recognition, and engagement, collaborating with Operations and Programs teams to ensure safe, efficient distribution and a culture of philanthropy.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of customer service experience.
• Volunteer experience with responsibility for supervising volunteers preferred.
• Able to work in a warehouse environment and perform hands‑on tasks that may involve dirt or produce.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily hands‑on training and supervision to volunteers. Coordinate with warehouse and logistics priorities and set up/break down volunteer workspace.
• Orient volunteers to the organization and invite involvement as donors or advocates. Acknowledge volunteers with timely thank‑yous and recognition activities.
• Maintain volunteer database, track hours, and update procedures including confidentiality agreements.
• Provide excellent customer service to volunteers at all times.
