Job summary

Jewish Family Service of San Diego seeks a strategic, mission-driven Community & Volunteer Engagement Specialist. The role strengthens volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and in-kind giving, developing recruitment and retention strategies and advising programs on volunteer needs.

The specialist guides CVE Coordinators, oversees data on volunteers and in-kind contributions, and uses trends to improve programs.

Qualifications

Three years of progressively responsible experience in volunteer engagement, community partnerships, donor relations, nonprofit programs, or related field.
Experience developing or improving volunteer recruitment, engagement, retention, stewardship, or community outreach strategies.
Experience building relationships with volunteers, donors, corporations, educational institutions, community organizations, or other external partners.
Experience training or guiding colleagues, volunteers, or partners.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies.
Partner with program leaders to assess volunteer needs and define placements.
Manage complex volunteer placements and resolve placement challenges.
Establish standards for a welcoming volunteer experience across programs and locations.
Lead volunteer communications and recruitment campaigns.
Support CVE Coordinators with training and guidance.
Lead volunteer recognition and stewardship initiatives.
