Job summary

Wheeler Mission Ministries in Indianapolis is seeking a Volunteer Engagement Manager to oversee volunteer involvement at the location by recruiting, scheduling, selecting, screening, building relationships, and communicating with volunteers, staff, and donors.

You will collaborate with staff on volunteer needs and opportunities, assist in volunteer development, and ensure volunteers are equipped and integrated by their Volunteer Supervisor into positions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, People and/or Project Management or equivalent experience.
• Exceptional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and schedules individual and group volunteers for designated Wheeler Mission location.
• Manages volunteer programs, including recruitment, selection, equipping, development, and leadership.
• Oversees volunteer-driven medical, dental, and legal clinics.
• Collaborates with Volunteer Ministry Team to ensure communication and placement of volunteers.
• Builds relationships with regular volunteers to enhance retention and commitment to Wheeler Mission.
• Greets and orients volunteers, especially at their first service date.
