Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Volunteer Engagement Officer for a dedicated non-profit in Welkom, Free State. You will recruit, train, and support volunteers, serving as the primary contact to ensure volunteers feel valued and productive.

You will collaborate with departments to identify needs, match opportunities with volunteers, and maintain records. A passion for community service and strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in volunteer management, recruitment, or coordination.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
• Experience in developing and delivering training sessions.
• Knowledge of non-profit operations and community service principles.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Free State region as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment across channels.
• Screen, interview, and onboard new volunteers.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive volunteer training programs.
• Provide ongoing support, supervision, and recognition to volunteers.
• Match volunteer skills with organizational needs.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records.
• Organize and facilitate volunteer appreciation events.
• Liaise with program managers to identify current and future volunteer needs.
• Promote volunteer opportunities within the local community.
• Assist in resolving volunteer-related issues promptly and professionally.
