Job summary

Good Samaritan Haven in Vermont is seeking a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to design, formalize, and scale a sustainable volunteer program. This full-time AmeriCorps role focuses on building structured volunteer systems, onboarding toolkits, and establishing partnerships across central Vermont shelter locations to boost volunteer numbers, engagement, and retention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED is required.
• Experience in volunteer engagement or community outreach is beneficial.
• Ability to recruit volunteers and coordinate schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct service to guests and clients of Good Samaritan Haven.
• Volunteer recruitment: draft position descriptions based on org needs, post opportunities, attend community events to network and present volunteer opportunities, screen potential volunteers, conduct volunteer orientation, ensure safety and boundary compliance, collect waivers.
• Schedule volunteer shifts using tracking software, match volunteer skills with open positions, serve as main contact for volunteers.
• Launch new volunteer database.
• Log volunteer hours, track data, survey volunteers to measure program impact.
• Conduct volunteer appreciation.
• Participate in an Independent Service Project and all VHCB AmeriCorps trainings/events/service days.
