Job summary

Project Open Hand is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator in San Francisco to recruit, schedule and engage volunteers who support meals and groceries for chronically ill and aging clients. The role collaborates with agency leaders to run a robust volunteer program and enhance community partnerships.

You will train volunteers, maintain Salesforce records, coordinate outreach events, and recognize volunteer contributions while working closely with staff across departments.

Qualifications

• Experience in outreach to potential volunteers, including corporations, schools, community organizations, etc.
• Experience managing databases (Salesforce preferred).
• Strong cross-cultural competency.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Degree in social services, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts volunteer orientations and training for individuals, groups and volunteers referred to Project Open Hand by a third-party agency.
• Coordinates, schedules and supports volunteers throughout the agency.
• Participates in the development and execution of volunteer recruitment strategy.
• Identifies and attends outreach events such as volunteer fairs, presentations, community and corporate meetings, and events.
• Maintains volunteer Salesforce records and completes reporting and record-keeping requirements.
• In partnership with the Volunteer Services Team, develops, maintains, and implements ongoing volunteer recognition program.
• Acts as liaison between staff, volunteers, and other Agency departments.
• Able to work some nights, weekends and holidays.
• Other duties as assigned.
