Job summary

The Salvation Army Indiana Division in Evansville seeks a Community Development Coordinator to support the Evansville Corps Service Area through volunteer recruitment for Christmas fundraising, social services, corps activities and community events.

This role focuses on building relationships with community partners, coordinating volunteer placements, and promoting the Army’s mission via social media, outreach, and promotional materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; degree preferred in communications/PR.
• Background checks required for this position.
• Experience with nonprofit volunteer coordination and community engagement is preferred.
• Experience with social media and digital content creation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and develop qualified volunteers from within the community by collecting applications and screening volunteers.
• Maintain the volunteer database and provide reports as necessary.
• Provide in-depth training and continuing education for volunteers.
• Create and email monthly newsletters to volunteers highlighting opportunities for service.
• Work with each department to determine volunteer needs and placements.
• Coordinate volunteer groups for the Christmas Red Kettle Campaign and other events.
• Support fundraising goals through volunteer relationship building.
• Develop promotional materials and engage community resources for recruitment events.
• Represent The Salvation Army at community meetings and outreach events.
