Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff each day so operations stay organized, consistent and responsive to volunteer and production needs.
  • Set clear expectations and hold staff accountable so duties are completed correctly and performance stays reliable.
  • Provide constructive feedback, encourage professional growth and document ongoing performance concerns to maintain fair, timely performance management.
  • Create monthly schedules for coordinators and leads so coverage stays dependable across shifts, events and daily operations.
  • Plan the weekly production schedule and complete the production board so daily work matches current operational needs.
  • Step into Coordinator, Lead or Volunteer Relations duties when needed so service and production continue without disruption.
  • Serve as the main contact for volunteer center requests, and hire, train and develop staff to maintain team capacity.
  • Coordinate staff, volunteers, projects and equipment so production meets product demand safely and on schedule.
  • Create volunteer recruitment strategies so capacity grows steadily and community participation remains active.
  • Manage the cost center budget and quarterly forecasts so spending decisions stay informed and fiscal performance remains on track.
  • Document best practices and improve processes so work stays consistent, efficient and easier to repeat.
  • Help shape and communicate strategic goals so staff understand priorities and daily work connects to broader plans.
  • Pass along direction and updates so people have the information needed to act, respond or escalation concerns.
  • Meet weekly with sourcing and inventory teams to confirm production needs so schedules reflect current product priorities.
  • Maintain and evaluate coordinator training procedures so instruction stays current, clear and effective.
  • Ensure new hires are prepared to coordinate volunteers so they can work safely, confidently and independently.
  • Put best practices into daily use so the Volunteer Center sets a clear example for volunteer experiences and production.
  • Develop and maintain production metrics and reporting systems so results can be tracked and addressed promptly.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in production, staff performance, culture and volunteer experience so daily work keeps getting better.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and priorities to align daily work with department and organizational goals.
  • Coach and evaluate employees using regular feedback, structured reviews and clear development steps tied to role requirements.
  • Demonstrate inclusive, mission‑oriented conduct through ethical behavior and respectful communication that reinforces accountability.
  • Manage performance outcomes by setting measurable goals, tracking progress and addressing concerns using policy and employment law.
  • Carry out equitable talent practices through consistent hiring, onboarding, engagement and retention activities aligned to program and funding needs.
  • Communicate priorities and change initiatives using plain language and clear guidance for team members and cross‑functional partners.
  • Maintain compliance and stewardship by following policies, legal requirements and funding guidelines and engaging Human Resources when needed.
  • Foster a high‑performing, value‑aligned team culture by demonstrating consistent leadership behavior, reinforcing expectations and addressing behaviors that impact engagement, trust and performance.
  • Derive and examine data insights to inform team decisions, track goal progress and guide daily operations.
  • Review and approve team expenditures, ensuring alignment with departmental budgets.
