Job summary

Volo Sports is seeking a part-time Host & Referee to represent the brand at facilities and bars, greeting players and maintaining a safe, fun league environment.

You'll enforce sport-specific rules, update scores, check-in players, and ensure a high-quality experience across leagues. This role emphasizes communication, teamwork, and reliability, with weekend and some weeknight availability.

Qualifications

• Willing to work weekends and/or nights, with Wednesday availability preferred.
• Knowledge of the sport rules; referee/umpire experience preferred.
• Interest in sports and social activities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Works well in a team atmosphere.
• Ability to multi-task and make decisions under pressure.
• Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds.
• Proficient customer service skills.
• Certified referees may qualify for a higher starting rate.

Job Description

Referee Responsibilities Including, But Not Limited To

• Ensure a safe, fun, social and fair environment for all players
• Understand and kindly and fairly enforce each sport's rules
• Communicate with the office regarding any equipment, rule issues, player issues, etc.
• Update league scores in our user interface
• Check in players in our user interface
• Encourage and maintain a quality experience throughout the league
• Set up & take down field set up
• Meet players and make them feel welcome

Must-Haves

• Must be willing and able to work weekends and/or nights - we are especially looking for folks with Wednesday evening availability.
• Knowledge of the rules of the sport, ideally previous referee/umpire experience
• Interest in sports and social activities
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Works well in a team atmosphere
• Ability to multi-task and make decisions under pressure
