Job summary

Weave is seeking an Engineering Manager for the SIP Engineering team. Lead the Voice Platform, mentor engineers, and scale our cloud-based VoIP services. This dual role blends people leadership with hands-on coding and architecture, including Kamailio, RTPengine, FreeSWITCH, and Homer.

You will set technical vision, manage backlogs, partner with Product, SRE, and Support, and hire top talent to maintain high availability and superior call quality across a distributed platform.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in software/telecom engineering.
• Staff-level expertise in VoIP/SIP with Kamailio, FreeSWITCH, RTPengine, Homer.
• Hands-on Go programming and scripting in Python/Bash/LUA.
• Strong TCP/IP networking and security fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud deployments and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Provide people leadership, mentorship, and career growth for the Voice Platform team.
• Contribute to technical work: design, code review, and Golang microservices.
• Align engineering priorities with the product roadmap and manage backlog.
• Set performance expectations and conduct regular 1-on-1s and reviews.
• Own architecture for scaling distributed VoIP platform in the cloud.
• Collaborate with SRE, Product, and Support to ensure availability and call quality.
