Job summary

Weave is seeking a VoIP Engineer to help grow and optimize a distributed, cloud-based voice platform. You will work hands-on with Kamailio, FreeSWITCH, and RTPengine, building Golang microservices and deploying in Kubernetes, while enhancing call quality and system observability.

You will collaborate with SRE/Platform teams and spread best practices for CI/CD, IaC, and incident response in a flexible, remote/onsite/hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a VoIP network engineer.
• Experience with Kamailio, OpenSIPS, FreeSWITCH, RTPengine, and Asterisk.
• Proficient with Wireshark, sngrep, and Homer.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP networks and related protocols (SIP, RTP, RTCP, TLS, ICE, STUN, TURN, WebRTC).
• Programming in Go, Java, or C.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, and Lua.
• Terraform and Ansible for cloud automation.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
• Strong communication and self-motivation.
• Experience with Google Cloud and cloud networking (VPCs, load balancing, IAM).

Responsibilities

• Grow and manage a distributed cloud-based VoIP platform.
• Optimize and troubleshoot FreeSWITCH and Kamailio configurations for performance and reliability.
• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain services that support the voice platform.
• Monitor VoIP network performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve VoIP call quality, signaling/connectivity, and outages.
• Develop Go-based microservices and containers that support the voice ecosystem.
• Deploy and operate services in Kubernetes environments.
• Maintain Kamailio and FreeSWITCH instances.
• Implement observability for SIP/RTP flows using HEP/Homer and telemetry.
• Collaborate with SRE/Platform teams to improve CI/CD and IaC practices.
