Job summary

V Group Inc. is seeking a VOIP Engineer for a 30-month contract with the NYC Department of Social Services as the end client.

The role is based in Brooklyn, NY, and involves supporting enterprise VoIP deployments, voice system upgrades, and migration activities across multiple DSS locations. You will install and troubleshoot VoIP appliances, coordinate hardware staging, work with network teams and vendors, and provide on-site user support during transitions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in testing complex network-based telecom systems.
• Thorough knowledge of structured test methods and processes; experience with automated testing tools and legacy voice tools.
• Thorough knowledge of voice telephony techniques and standards; experience interfacing with phone providers.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Job Description

DSS is modernizing its telecommunications infrastructure through enterprise VoIP deployments and voice system upgrades. The selected consultant will provide technical support for telephony systems, telecom migrations, vendor coordination, user support, and deployment activities across multiple DSS locations.

Responsibilities

• Ability to install and troubleshoot all issues that come up with VoIP network appliances.
• Coordinate the staging and shipping of equipment from warehouse to site for conversion. Submit requests to have the local network modified to support the new VoIP phones. Physically unbox and install new phones on desk locations. Work with network group and voice administrator to ensure that all phones come online.
• Interface with users in the field to assist with technical questions and functionality issues.
• Be at the site right after conversion for technical support on how to use the new phones and to give assistance with setting up new voice mail boxes. Make yourself available at that site for future assistance.
• Coordinate vendor meetings with installers and the phone company. To assure prompt responses to existing problems and installs.
• Be available to meet with Vendors such as the telephone company and private communication vendors for service assistance. Carry all the necessary tools for your job.

Required Qualifications
