Job Description

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in the daily planning of shop projects and related instruction.
• Monitors the activities of students.
• Shares industry experience with students and staff.
• Monitors students in completing shop tasks while helping them to develop an attitude of personal and professional excellence.
• Assists in the maintenance of individual student records.
• Helps maintain discipline under classroom guidelines.
• Assists the vocational technical instructors in maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
• Assists the vocational technical instructors in breaking down CTE competencies, tasks, and projects for diverse learners.
• Will work with the vocational technical instructors in the specified vocational area and follow the lesson plan provided to them.
• Will follow all safety regulations per shop concerning Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• May be asked to transport students to and from job sites using school-provided transportation.
• Supports all vocational programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent-Director.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The individual may spend several hours per day sitting at a desk. Other activities include standing, talking, and listening in shop environments. The individual may be exposed to blue light from office equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Ten-month, school-year position (183 days).

  REPORTS TO: Director of Vocational Programs
  JOB GOAL: Candidate will assist Chapter 74-approved instructors in the shop area during the instructors’ prep period or related theory coverage periods. Familiarity with the competencies and skills required of students in specific vocational-technical areas is essential. The candidate will have an understanding of curriculum development and students’ learning styles and possess the ability to work with all students in assisting the technical instructor in delivering quality programming to prepare the students to meet the demands of the modern workplace.
