Job summary

Housing Works Inc. is seeking a Vocational Counselor for the Emergency & Transitional Housing (ETH) Program.

You will conduct vocational intakes, assist with resumes, and provide counseling and work readiness workshops across three NYC sites (Corona, Fresh Meadows, Long Island City). The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least one year of vocational counseling or workforce development experience, with preference for bilingual Spanish abilities and knowledge of relevant regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience providing vocational counseling or workforce development services.
• Experience working with individuals with involvement in the criminal legal system or mental health/substance use challenges.
• Knowledge of city, state and federal workforce regulations and legislation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vocational program intakes across ETH Program sites.
• Co-develop employment and education goals with participants.
• Assist clients with resumes and cover letters.
• Provide individual vocational counseling and case management.
• Facilitate work readiness and career training interventions.
• Refer participants to specialized job training and continuing education.
