Job summary

Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency is seeking a Counselor 1 (G) to provide vocational rehabilitation services under supervision, aiming to facilitate competitive employment for individuals with disabilities. The Johns Creek location serves Gwinnett County with day shift hours.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (related field) and two years of experience; a Master’s degree is preferred. Travel within the caseload area is expected, with careful documentation in the client system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social/human services, education, special education, social work or related field.
• Two years of related experience.
• Master’s degree in related field preferred.
• Experience as a case manager with a high-volume caseload preferred.
• Ability to travel within caseload area.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains referral sources.
• Conducts interviews with VR participants.
• Reviews and interprets education, vocation, psychological and medical information.
• Travels within caseload area to meet with participants and partners.
• Assists in determining eligibility and developing an individualized plan for employment.
• Counsels and guides participants through rehabilitation processes.
• Monitors client movement and ensures timely provision of services.
• Documents accurately in the client information system.
• Observes confidentiality guidelines in handling test results and files.
• Processes and monitors authorizations and invoices for services.
