Job summary

The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency in the United States seeks a Counselor 1 (G) to provide vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities to facilitate competitive and integrated employment outcomes.

Under supervision, you will conduct interviews, review education, vocational, psychological and medical information, and travel within your caseload to meet participants and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, Education, Human/Social Services, Counseling or closely related field.
• Two years of related experience required.
• Master’s Degree and CRC credential preferred; one year of disability-related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains referral sources.
• Interviews VR participants (students, applicants, clients).
• Reviews and interprets education, vocation, psychological and medical information.
• Travels within caseload area to meet participants, providers, partners and others.
• Assists in determining eligibility, identifying order of selection, and developing an individualized plan for employment.
• Counsels and guides participants through the rehabilitation process and moves cases to closure.
• Monitors client movement and ensures timely provision of services.
• Documents accurately and timely in AWARE.
• Observes confidentiality guidelines in handling test results and case files.
• Provides information to educate the public and other agencies about rehabilitation services.
• Enters accurate participant data in the client information system and captures reporting data.
• Processes and monitors authorizations and invoices for rehabilitation services.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, Education, Human/Social Services, Counseling or related field
