Job summary

Frederick Community College is seeking an Adjunct, Vocational to provide instruction to students entering or already in the vocational workforce. Courses may include lectures, hands-on labs, and distance-learning components to support outcomes from entry-level employment to professional development.

The instructor will prepare lesson plans, facilitate labs, track progress, and report grades, with emphasis on engaging students and fostering critical thinking and workplace skills.

Qualifications

  • Industry license, certificate, or degree in area of expertise.
  • Experience teaching adult learners.
  • Experience using computers and associated technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a culturally diverse workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate instruction that aligns with course outcomes.
  • Ensure that students complete all coursework, including participation in hands‑on lab projects.
  • Actively engage students throughout the course, promoting critical thinking and workplace skills.
  • Prepare and administer lesson plans for each class.
  • Provide students with timely progress reports.
  • Report grades and attendance, and complete other faculty administrative tasks when required.
  • Develop new course content when assigned.
  • Other duties as required for student success.
