Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a VMware Engineer to support Government workloads in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. You will manage physical/virtual platforms, server builds, and virtualization environments to deliver scalable infrastructure.

Expect to work with ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN while ensuring security, compliance, and performance across federal projects.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Dod 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.).
• Bachelor’s degree + 6 years’ experience or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies and configuring VMs, storage, and networking.
• VMware Certified Professional certification required.

Responsibilities

• Designs and supports virtualization service models including IaaS and PaaS.
• Designs and implements virtualization for applications and automates processes.
• Maintains VMware vSphere infrastructure: ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN.
• Develops system requirements from user needs and OPS docs.
• Interacts with Government stakeholders on technical considerations.

Our work depends on a VMware Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD.

At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Desktop Engineering Services. As a VMware Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc.

HOW A F5 SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Designs and builds virtual environment service models includingInfrastructure-as-a-ServiceandPlatform-as-a-Service.
• Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
• Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN
• Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
• Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations
• Develops system architecture and system design documentation
• Interacts with the Government regarding technical considerations and regarding associated problems, issues, or conflicts
• Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility
  

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Active TS/SCI clearance with poly
• Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline + 6 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
• Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking
• Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs
• VMware Certified Professional certification required
• Ability to learn new virtualization technologies
