General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. in Springfield, VA is seeking a senior systems engineer with deep VMware ESXi expertise to design and sustain compute environments.

You will define system architecture, perform complex engineering tasks, plan OS upgrades, and document new and existing systems. You’ll lead technical guidance, may supervise teammates, and liaise with clients to ensure requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related systems engineering experience.
  • VMware virtualization expertise is required to support both onsite and remote site activities.
  • TS/SCI clearance required
  • Install, configure and manage VMware virtualization environment components (vSphere, VMware Aria Automation (vRA) VMware Aria Operations (vROPs), ESXi, NSX/NSX-T).
  • Provide Operation and Sustainment support for the virtualization environment.
  • Ensure virtualization systems are compliant within required security standards.
  • Develop and maintain O&S Standard Operating Procedures for VMware virtualization environment.
  • Support diagnoses and troubleshooting of problems with the virtualization environment including Microsoft Windows and Linux O/S systems.
  • Within established procedures, responds to end user requests for technical support and assistance.
  • Support off-hours maintenance activities.
  • Support the Certification and Accreditation process for virtualization hosts.
  • Gain familiarity with current data center infrastructure.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge of development concepts, practices and procedures
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the program baseline capabilities, design and objectives.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing VMware Aria Operations and/or Log Insight in a production environment, to include developing policies and custom dashboards.

The likely salary range for this position is $125,800 - $170,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
