Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking an experienced F5 Systems Engineer to support government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD.

The role focuses on traffic management, LTM/ASM/APM administration, and related F5 technologies in secure environments. You’ll ensure dependable, scalable network infrastructure, participate in requirements development, and document procedures.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant F5 experience with F5 LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ, and/or APM administration and life cycle management including experience with advanced iRule creation and troubleshooting
• Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of technology towers i.e.: Storage, Virtualization, Intel, Networking, Data Center Migration and Disaster Recovery
• Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol standards such as: TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x.
• Experience managing and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a large multi-site environment
• Knowledge of risk and controls landscape, ensuring company-wide standards are met

• Plans, designs, develops, implements, and operates F5 products such as LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ, and APM
• Provides clear technical documentation and written procedures for issues identified and addressed
• Proposes and implements system enhancements that improves the performance and reliability of the network security infrastructure
• Monitors and troubleshoots platform and OS based problems: network security infrastructure, and connectivity issues
• Performs launch testing for new software releases and the introduction of new features
• Collaborates with different technology towers to achieve common goals
• Applies capacity planning configuration changes as needed
• Addresses performance, scalability, and service architecture administration issues
• Coordinates equipment orders including physical or virtual appliances, as well as upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing the systems as needed

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• Certifications Needed:
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following:Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
  • Must have the F5 Certified Administrator certification or obtain the certification within 3 months of hire date
  • Obtain one targeted F5 module certification (LTM, DNS, ASM, or APM) within an additional 90 days
• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
