Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System seeks a Vital Statistics Technician to complete or assist with birth and death certificates and data abstraction for Alabama EVERS/EDR databases, while supporting other medical record duties.

Ideal candidates hold HS/GED with clerical experience, strong communication, confidentiality, and computer skills; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus. Work location is Huntsville, AL within a comprehensive health system renowned for its regional care.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required.
• Minimum of one-year clerical experience required. Medical Records or physician office experience preferred.
• Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be able to use computer, word processing and spreadsheet software, fax machine, and copy machine. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not a requirement.

• Complete or assist with birth certificates and/or required data abstraction for entry into the EVERS system.
• Complete or assist with death certificates in EDR for Huntsville Hospital deaths according to guidelines.
• Other medical record departmental duties as assigned

• Complete or assist with death certificates in State of Alabama EDR for Huntsville Hospital deaths according to Center for Vital Statistics guidelines.
• Other medical record departmental duties as assigned
