Job summary

United Way of the Bluegrass seeks a VITA Program Manager to lead the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program across UWBG sites. You will oversee operations, recruit and supervise Site Coordinators and volunteers, ensure IRS compliance, and manage grant-related reporting and data collection.

The role reports to the Director of Community Impact and collaborates with Finance, Marketing, and partner organizations to provide free tax preparation services and ensure program integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, social work, or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to compliance requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with IRS program staff, funders, volunteers, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administration, growth, and operations of the VITA program across UWBG sites.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Site Coordinators and volunteer tax preparers.
• Ensure compliance with IRS Quality Site Requirements and grant terms; manage certifications and data collection.
• Manage grant applications, reporting, and timesheets; track matching funds and supportive records.
• Coordinate with departments and partners to expand access to free tax services.
