Job summary

United Way of the Bluegrass Inc is seeking a VITA Program Manager to lead the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program across UWBG’s service area. You will oversee site operations, volunteer and Site Coordinator management, IRS grant compliance, and data reporting.

Reporting to the Director of Community Impact, you will collaborate with coalition partners, finance, marketing, and community partners. Travel will be required during tax season to support VITA sites and activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with VITA or free tax preparation programs preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain IRS VITA/TCE certification.
• Strong organizational, reporting, and deadline‑driven skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems; familiarity with VITA data systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administration, growth, and operational success of the VITA program across all UWBG sites.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Site Coordinators and volunteers.
• Ensure IRS Quality Site Requirements and Title VI compliance.
• Maintain tax‑related privacy and data safeguarding standards.
