The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking an Assistant Program Coordinator to support the Tax Credit Alliance of Nebraska (TCAN) and the VITA program across Nebraska. The role emphasizes site operations, volunteer support, client services, inventory management, and community outreach.

You will learn all facets of the VITA program, pursue IRS certifications, and collaborate with the Program Coordinator to ensure high-quality tax preparation for eligible individuals and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or years of relevant experience may substitute for education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass an IRS suitability check and maintain tax compliance.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
• Must be willing to travel throughout Nebraska using a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required during tax season.
• Ability to transport, set up, and take down program equipment and supplies.
• Ability to obtain all required IRS VITA certifications within first month of hire
• Ability to maintain all required IRS VITA certifications

Responsibilities

• Support the Tax Credit Alliance of Nebraska (TCAN) VITA program through site operations and client services.
• Coordinate volunteers, inventory, and community outreach to ensure high-quality tax preparation.
• Learn all aspects of the VITA program and work with the Program Coordinator to develop independently.
