Job summary

Yahoo Finance seeks an Information Designer / Data Visualization Specialist (IC3) to transform complex financial data into clear, compelling information graphics. You’ll bridge data journalism and visual design, shaping narratives across web, mobile, and social platforms.

You’ll work with AI-augmented data parsing, automated chart frameworks, and an enterprise template library to speed production while upholding journalistic integrity. Hybrid work options offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in information design, data visualization, or editorial graphics in digital newsrooms or media entities.
• Portfolio demonstrating advanced data visualization, layouts, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, with strong Photoshop and Figma knowledge.
• Extensive experience transforming enterprise datasets into visual assets using Datawrapper, Flourish, RAWGraphs, or similar tools.
• Experience applying AI-augmented design systems or data parsing workflows to accelerate production.

Responsibilities

• Data Visualization & Editorial Architecture: design and render high-fidelity charts, diagrams, map modules, and complex graphics for daily articles and newsletters.
• Translate complex financial/macro concepts (earnings, inflation, rates) into clear visuals for a global audience.
• Collaborate with reporters, data analysts, and editors early to identify visualization opportunities.
• Support real-time market events by deploying automated chart frameworks and generative data tools.
• Maintain an enterprise library of templates and patterns for consistency across platforms.
• Use AI tools to digest and summarize data before visual mapping.
• Develop automated workflows to scale charts across desktop, mobile, and social formats.
• Present layout logic and best practices in cross-functional meetings.
